Re purposed to a bed and more...

This started out as a pile of wood that was going to be thrown out.  The original "bed" was missing parts, had broken parts,  meant to be much higher and in desperate need to TLC. My husband brought it home and this is what it became...

This side rail now has a shelf attached to hold the alarm clock and remote.

The dresser below is painted to match the bed, (it was free to us, a gift from grandparents).
It was the perfect spot to hold is lamp, it was too top heavy to put on the side shelf.
When the overhead light is out, the light from the lamp shines up through the side shelf which has a thick piece of acrylic for the top.

Now he has the perfect space for a "fort" under the bed.

We might add some type of curtain to make it more of a closed off space for him. All in all this project cost us less than $10.  Here is the break down:

Broken down loft bed in need of repairs: Free
Salvaged wood for repairs: Free
Acrylic for shelf, re purposed: Free
Paint for the bed: $4.50
Screws and washers $5.00 (with left overs for more projects!)
Dresser: Free (gift)

We have one happy little boy who is more than excited to start playing with his new
"Fort Bed"
